Palace Mosigkau

Dessau-Roßlau

Schloss Mosigkau
Built between 1752-1757 as the summer residence of Princess Anna-Wilhelmine von Anhalt-Dessau - an aunt of Prince Franz - Mosigkau Castle belongs to the few Rococo buildings in Middle Germany which are in good condition.
In 20 rooms it houses an important collection of paintings, furniture and pieces of arts and crafts. The highlight in form and design is the Garden Hall (=Gartensaal) where on beautifully decorated stucco walls paintings of Dutch and Flemish masters of the 17th century, among others paintings by Rubens and Van Dyck. Their original baroque presentation way of hanging is unique in Germany. The Rococo Garden whose basic structure has been kept and the Orangery with centuries-old tub plants have a magic attraction for the visitors.
Regularly special exhibitions and concerts take place in the castle and the park.
