Fachwerkmuseum im Ständerbau
The Museum of Half-Timber Construction is located in one of the oldest German half-timbered houses which is the oldest in Quedlinburg (from about 1310).
The visitors are informed about the history of half-timber construction from the 14th - 19th centuries, about the measures of restoration and reconstruction in the town of Quedlinburg as well as about the historic development in the area of the Old Town from the 10th century up to the decline of half-timber construction after 1800. In the new permanent exhibition the single styles of Quedlinburg half-timber construction are presented vividly by models. On department is devoted to the symbolic meaning of the magnificent ornaments with different buildings.
