Naumann-Museum Vogelsammlung Vogelsammlung

In the palace in 1835 J.F. Naumann (1780-1857), founder of the scientific ornithology, prepared a collection of birds which he started. This collection consisting of 113 show-cases has hardly been changed and has been in the same rooms since its foundation. Its paintings of the interior walls indicate early ecological ideas and impart the collection a science-historical and art-historical value.
Other subjects are paintings of birds, history of ornithological book graphics, dissection and collection techniques, fowling and ringing, Naumann’s contemporaries from Europe and America and extinct birds.
It is the only ornithological-historical Museum worldwide.
